Ms. Newsome has extensive experience working with emerging and impact investment managers, private and public funds, limited-purpose and capital acquisition broker-dealers, and entrepreneurs seeking capital. Ms. Newsome brings to Jacko Law Group a strong entrepreneurial and compliance background, having worked with SEC- and FINRA-registered entities, private funds and financings, and as general counsel and chief compliance officer for registered investment advisers, broker-dealers, and registered and private funds.
Ms. Newsome earned her law degree from the Dwayne O. Andreas School of Law at Barry University and her undergraduate degree from Spelman College. She regularly publishes articles on topics impacting her clients and actively participates in industry events.
Her accolades include recognition as a “40 Under 40” and “Women Who Mean Business” honoree by the Orlando Business Journal. She has also been awarded the Top Compliance Counsel award by First Chair and has received recognition for her efforts in diversity and inclusion from the Central Florida Council of Scouting America.
Ms. Newsome is a member of the Florida Bar, where she has served on the Clients’ Security Funds Committee. She is a past board member of the National Society of Compliance Professionals, a past chair of the boards of the Heart of Florida United Way, and the African American Chamber of Commerce’s Central Florida Chapter.
When she is not working, Ms. Newsome enjoys participating in community activities as a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, and The Links, Incorporated.
